Integrative
medicine is the wave of the future says Dr. ImeldaEdodollon, RMT, MD, NMD, adding that she has high expectations that more and more
Filipinos will come to see its therapeutic benefits. At the Business
Forum ni Karancho held at Stone
House Bed & Breakfast in
Quezon City last week, she explained that a fusion of scientifically-backed “Western”
medicine and time-tested “Traditional” medicine greatly enhances healing. Edodollon,
who is medical director of Holistic Integrative Care Center (HICC), has been aggressively promoting Ozone Therapy, which she explains can be
a less-invasive procedure to correct ailments which normally require surgery. She
said the therapeutic properties of the highly-oxygenated molecule of ozone can
work wonders to the human body. –- Mister

Sugar Tax: Local Industries Bitter
At the Business Forum ni Karancho held at the Stone
House Bed & Breakfast in Quezon
City last May 24, Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI) chairman Jess
Arranza explained that the House-concocted tax mega hike on sugar and even artificial
sweeteners, will not only prove bitter for consumers but on local industries as well. He explained
that this is likely to cause a sharp drop in demand for sugar—which in turn
will hurt the local sugar industry. Arranza added that government’s tax
collection targets can be achieved without forcing the public to reach even
deeper into their pockets, by simply plugging tax loopholes and curbing
corruption in revenue-collecting agencies. --- Mister

Still going loco over UCPB’s Cocobank Sandwich
This is a
reprint of an earlier entry which I contributed to my
husband’s former blog back in August 2012.
He introduced me to the
famous Cocobank Sandwich during a luncheon meeting with our Ninong, UCPB
director and then Minola President Jesus Arranza. We recently visited Ninong
again which gave me the opportunity to once more enjoy this novelty dish.
Also, I was happy to again
run into Mr. Oscar Fulgencio, the Operations Head of UCPB’s Executive Lounge.
He told me that during the intervening years and with all that inflation, the
UCPB sandwich has only increased by Php5.00! --- Misis

Bean Belt Coffee to Launch Expanded Menu
Bean Belt Coffee is a nice and cozy little coffee shop
located at the heart of Manila’s university belt that you definitely ought to
visit if you are ever near the corner of
Dapitan and Don Quijote Streets. And
even if you are nowhere near, making an effort to try the place out may prove
worthwhile. Saying this up front may seem like front-loading this review, but I
don’t want to waste a thousand words for something I can say in far fewer!

About Homemaker and Breadwinner
Managing the 21st century household has
indeed become a rather complicated state of affairs! This is in no small part
due to the emergence of a myriad of goods and services that are touted to make
life easier and more comfortable. But do they really?
Homemaker & Breadwinner aims
to cut through the veil of corporate advertising, and even government
propaganda in a bid to see things for what they really are. We will look
closely into the quality and price of CONSUMER GOODS, UTILITIES,
TELECOMMUNICATIONS, TRANSPORTATION as well as other products commonly purchased
by the Filipino family. And we will do this with an eye for quality, value for
money, convenience and after sales support.
Making an honest living is not an easy task. It is
therefore incumbent upon us to ensure that every Peso earned is well spent. Our
blog seeks to answer the very simple question—ARE WE GETTING OUR MONEY’S WORTH?
Homemaker & Breadwinner seeks
to raise the banner of the Filipino CONSUMER. Join us as we examine the various
goods and services commonly used by the modern household from the
discriminating eyes of a hard-working and cost-conscious Filipino couple.
