HICC’s Holistic and Prolozone Ambassadors Named

The Holistic Integrative Care Center (HICC) levelled up its promotional efforts when it announced its Brand Ambassadors at the newly opened Cave Restaurant in Quezon City last January 26.  Makati-based HICC specializes in treating chronic degenerative diseases by combining conventional and alternative approaches to provide the best treatment possible, according to medical director Dra. Imelda Edodollon, RMT, MD, NMD.  She explained that their method promotes natural healing through proper diet and conducts different types of therapy to put the body in a self-healing mode.

Singer–actor Ronnie Liang, a certified health buff, was chosen as the center’s Holistic Advocate because he embodies HICC’s mission of fostering disease prevention through lifestyle modification, HICC spokesman Jasper Tan-Maguigad said.  Meantime, veteran broadcaster Miguel Gil was named as HICC’s Prolozone Ambassador. Prolozone Therapy is billed as a revolutionary procedure to repair damaged joints and ligaments, and relieve the accompanying pain, without surgery.

HICC’s complete Body Scan for the “prick-phobic” in a hurry!

You can now get your whole body scanned for any lurking or potential diseases in a manner that’s totally non-invasive thanks to the Quantum Magnetic Resonance Analyzer (body scanner) currently available at the Holistic Integrative Care Center (HICC). What’s more, the entire process only takes exactly one minute—which is almost too good to be true!

All you need to do is lay still on the doctor’s examination table for one minute while holding a metal rod that is attached to the body scanning machine. When you’re through, you just wait another few minutes for the results to appear on screen.  Also, you can have a soft copy e-mailed, if you wish.

Exactly what part of your body is scanned? As I said earlier, it’s a complete body scan, which means practically everything from your brain function to the bone density on your toes gets examined. Of course, the basic stuff like your sugar and uric acid levels, liver and kidney functions and the status of your heart is covered!

Remilly's Yema Cake: Candy and Cake rolled into one!

If you must give in to your sweet tooth, there’s an affordable place to get your fix.  Situated at the busy corner of Kamuning Road and K-E Street, Remilly’s Yema Cake offers dessert lovers this oh-so-familiar but not-so-traditional cake flavor -- obviously the Yema Cake!

Aside from their best-selling product, Remilly’s playfully combines yema with conventional flavors such as chocolate, mocha, mango, ube and caramel.  Also, expect the unexpected with their sweet-spicy and sweet-salty amalgamations: Yema-Chili Cake and Yema Salted Cream Cake. Another product that may pique your interest is the Pastillas Cake.

A few weeks ago, we needed a cake in a hurry for my mother-in-law’s impromptu birthday dinner. Goldilocks, Red Ribbon and Tinapayan Festival Bakeshoppe were not only out of the way, but would require us to mow through Saturday traffic. Estrel’s Caramel Cake was out of the question because it required an advance order. So, we decided to throw caution out the window and make a quick pit stop at the most conveniently situated bake shop on our drive home---Remilly's!

My Global Headache

My planet-sized problem all started when I said “Yes!” to the Globe Telecom CSR's (Customer Service Representative) pitch to upgrade my postpaid line to Plan 599 from Plan 499. It seemed like a good idea at that time. I would be getting so much more for a mere Php100 per month, I said to myself. And I would have probably been another satisfied customer if someone at Globe hadn’t bungled up. Eleven months down the road and an unquantifiable amount of stress on my part later, they haven’t managed to untangle my problem yet!! Here’s what happened:
1)   In November 2016, I went to Globe SM Masinag branch to request for recontracting of my postpaid plan. I upgraded from Best Ever My Superplan 499 (Combo GOSURF PV299 700MB + Combo All Net Texts PV100 + Combo All Globe Calls PV100) to My LifeStyle Plan 599 (built-in Unli Call & Text to Globe/TM499 + GOSURF PV99  200MB) with free Huawei Titan Black mobile phone. After submitting the required documents to CSR Bong, I was told that the changes in my plan would be reflected in my Statement of Account (SOA) starting Dec 16, 2016 or two (2) billing cycles later.

One billing cycle later (instead of the 2 billing cycles agreed upon), I found out that My Lifestyle Plan 599 was already included as part of my Monthly Recurring Fee (MRF) for the bill period 16 Nov 16 – 15 Dec 16.

Bean Belt’s Ultimate Chow

If you were bound for the gallows at dawn and the hangman asked what you want for your last meal, would you know the answer?  I think I do. I’ll tell him to summon down an Uber, head out to Bean Belt Coffee along Dapitan Street in Manila… and fetch me an order of THE ULTIMATE, to go!

Three strips of bacon, two sausages, two sunny-side up eggs, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, grilled herb focaccia  and some pork and beans—now, that’s a meal to die for! If the noose doesn’t get you, all that cholesterol will surely do you in… but that avalanche of flavor will definitely take you to heaven!

I’m no gourmet nor am I pretending to be a food connoisseur, but I do have pretty solid convictions about comfort food. And as far as comfort food is concerned, this is as good as it gets according to my very subjective palate. Try it.   ---Mister

Guard Your ATMs 24/7 Banks Told

Good old-fashioned physical security is the key to preventing technology-enabled crimes like the “skimming hack” on Banco De Oro last month, ICT experts say.  It was emphasized that automated teller machines (ATMs) will continue to be targeted by tech-savvy bandits until banks find a way to keep these scammers away from their cash-dispensing equipment.
The Internet Society –Philippines Chapter (ISOC.PH) said that local banks’ on-line security systems are generally sound and are often sufficient to repel external hacks. ISOC.PH chairman Winthrop Yu said the Achilles’ heel in the system is that many ATM machines are not guarded round-the-clock and are therefore vulnerable to being physically hijacked by skimming hackers. He explained that the latest ATM card cloner can be inserted into the machine’s card slot in much the same way as any ATM card. Once the cloning apparatus is in place, any ATM card that passes through the slot can be copied and consequently, the depositor’s account can be cleaned-out, he added.
